About the TWG

Emerging Voices for Global Health (EV4GH) started as an innovative multi-partner blended training program that was held in line with past editions of Global Symposia on Health Systems research organized by Health Systems Global and other global health stakeholders. The EV4GH programme includes face-to-face training and virtual training components, for young, promising and emerging health policy & systems researchers, decision-makers and other health system professionals with an interest in becoming influential global health voices and/or local change makers, particularly in LMICs.

The EV4GH training has two main components: a distance coaching phase which runs on email discussion groups as well as on an online learning management system designed for this training and a face-to-face phase which usually takes place within a university setting located near the venue of the global health event. Post-symposia activities focus on strengthening the EV4GH network, further ‘Emerging’ (including via mentorship), facilitation of EVs’ roles as local change agents and global health voices.

In 2016, continuing with the tradition of partnering with a significant health systems research symposium, we shall be having a new edition of EV4GH in close association and partnership with the 4th Global Symposium on health systems research in Vancouver, organised by Health Systems Global.

Recently, EV4GH has reconfigured itself with a globally representative elected governance board and a new secretariat based at the Institute of Public Health, Bangalore (IPH). Several reputed partner institutions such as Institute of Public Health, Institute of Tropical Medicine – Antwerp, University of Cape Town, University of Western Cape, Peking University, and Public Health Foundation of India support the EV4GH venture.

Objectives

The objectives of the EV4GH Working group are to:

  • Facilitate, support and transform young researchers, decision makers and professionals into global health advocates and local change-agents and facilitate/contribute to positive change at global, regional, national and local levels

  • Engage in inter-symposia events open to all young HPSR researchers and boost synergies from EV alumni from different cohorts

  • Collaborate with other young global health groups with the aim to strengthen the young researchers network

Key activities of the TWG

The EV4GH thematic working group activities include organising EV4GH events at global health conferences, hosting webinars, arranging young researcher workshops, and Google Group discussions.

The EV4GH TWG group is managed by the EV4GH Governance committee (comprising 7 EV alumni from different WHO regions, and two liaison members) and the Secretariat.
